Macintosh Creative ("we", "us", "our") is a sole trader business based at Parkview, High Wych Lane, High Wych, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, CM21 0JJ. This policy explains what personal data we collect through macintoshcreative.com, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.
This policy applies to this website only. It does not cover how we use photographs of your business taken as part of a website build — that is covered separately in your service agreement.
This policy is effective from 10 August 2026 and was last reviewed on that date. We may update it from time to time; the "last reviewed" date will always show the current version.

What We Collect
We only collect what we genuinely need to respond to you and run the business — nothing beyond that. Depending on how you interact with the site, this may include:

Your name and business/trading name
Contact details — email address and phone number
Details you include in an enquiry or contact form message — for example, your trade, location, and what you're looking for
Technical data collected automatically by analytics and monitoring tools — pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you interact with the page (e.g. scrolling, clicks). See "Cookies and Analytics" below.

How We Use It, and Why
We use your information for the following purposes, each with a lawful basis under UK GDPR:

To respond to your enquiry and discuss a possible website, photography, or Google Business Profile project — lawful basis: legitimate interests (responding to a direct enquiry you've made), moving to performance of a contract if you become a client.
To provide the agreed services if you become a client, including invoicing and any legal or accounting obligations that follow — lawful basis: performance of a contract, and legal obligation for financial record-keeping.
To understand how visitors use the site, so it can be kept fast and easy to use — lawful basis: legitimate interests.
To send you occasional marketing emails or newsletters, where you've agreed to this — lawful basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

We occasionally send marketing emails or newsletters — for example, about new services, availability, or things we think a past enquirer or client would genuinely find useful. We only do this with your clear consent, given when you enquire or sign up, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly.

How Long We Keep It
We keep enquiry details for as long as reasonably needed to respond, and no longer than 12 months if no project goes ahead. If you become a client, contract and invoicing records are kept for 6 years after the relationship ends, in line with standard UK tax record-keeping requirements. After these periods, your data is deleted or anonymised.

Who We Share It With
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only where necessary to run the business:

Wix.com, Inc. — hosts this website and processes data submitted through it on our behalf, under their own data processing terms.
Google (Google Workspace, Google Analytics, Google Search Console) — hosts our business email and provides site analytics and search performance data.
Microsoft (Clarity) — provides anonymised session recordings and heatmaps, as described in Cookies and Analytics below.
Bing Webmaster Tools (Microsoft) — provides search performance data for Bing, on the same basis as Google Search Console.
Legal or regulatory bodies, where we're required by law to disclose information — for example HMRC for tax purposes.

We do not use any third party for marketing purposes, and we will never share your details with anyone for their own marketing without asking you first.

International Transfers
Some of the providers we use, including Wix and Google, may store or process data outside the UK. Where this happens, they operate under recognised legal safeguards (such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses) that provide an equivalent level of protection to UK GDPR.

Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies — small files stored on your device — to help it run properly and to understand how it's used. Essential cookies (needed for the site to function) don't require your consent. Any non-essential cookies, such as the analytics and monitoring tools below, are only set with your permission via the cookie banner when you first visit.

Essential cookies — required for basic site functionality.
Google Analytics — shows which pages are visited, how, and roughly by whom (device, browser, approximate location). Requires your consent.
Microsoft Clarity — records anonymised session recordings and heatmaps showing how visitors move around and interact with the page, so we can spot where the site is confusing or slow. Requires your consent.

We also use the following tools to monitor and improve the site. They don't place cookies on your device or track individual visitors, so they aren't part of the cookie consent above:

Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools — show us how the site performs in Google and Bing search results (e.g. which searches lead people here). Data comes from Google's and Bing's own search systems, not from tracking you on this site.
Google PageSpeed Insights — an occasional, one-off test of how fast the site loads. It doesn't run continuously and collects nothing about individual visitors.

You can change your cookie choices at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working properly. Declining Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity has no effect on how the site works — it only affects what we can see about how it's used.

Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you — this is free of charge in almost all cases; a fee only applies if a request is excessive or repetitive.
Have inaccurate data corrected.
Have your data deleted, where there's no legal reason for us to keep it.
Restrict or object to how we use your data.
Receive your data in a portable format, where technically possible.
Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis for our using your data.

Making a Complaint
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first — email mac@macintoshcreative.co.uk with "Data Complaint" in the subject line, and Mac will look into it personally and respond within 14 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the UK's data protection regulator:
